Posing Guidance

You don’t need to know your angles – I’ll coach you into expressions that look natural and authentic. Some poses may feel awkward, but they’re designed to make you look 33.4% thinner.

The home studio is located in the Brookline neighborhood, 10 minutes south of downtown Pittsburgh PA. There is plenty of street parking at all times of the day directly in front of the house.

The most important thing is that you feel good in what you decide to wear. We’re going to take headshots that command respect through your presence and personality so you need to feel confident in your clothes. When in doubt, bring many options and we will sort through together. The studio is equipped with a steamer and dressing room. Don’t hesitate to take a few shots of what you’re thinking of wearing and text them to me for feedback. If you aren’t confident in your own makeup abilities or want that extra special touch, I work with a fantastic makeup artist that is available on a limited basis – please call for availability. If you normally wear makeup, I suggest doing it yourself. For men, I advise against makeup. Regardless of your gender, I will take care of minor blemishes when I retouch your photos, so you can rest assured that you will look your very best!

Session times are unlimited so you never feel rushed. We will shoot until you have the variety and range of expressions that you want. An average session runs 45-90 minutes including image selection at the end. Images are purchased a la carte.

Outdoor headshots are usually just a bad idea – distracting background elements, bad lighting and windy hair. We can step outside for a few images, but the majority of our session will be in studio. The most common backgrounds are white, gray and black and options for solid colors too.

Life happens and updating your headshot isn’t usually a life or death situation. I would rather you reschedule your session than have you come in preoccupied or in a rush to leave. I have a 48 hour scheduling policy where you can reschedule your appointment at no cost. If you need to reschedule at the last minute (less than 48 hours notice) there is a $75 rescheduling fee paid at the time of your session. Cancellations are non-refundable.

Your images will be available for download via a private gallery two weeks after your session. If you need your images immediately, 24-hour turnaround is available for an additional $50/image.

It’s my responsibility to make you look awesome and often we end up getting a lot of variety. Sometimes that means clients want ALL of the unedited images. If you’re one of those people. I have an image buyout option for a flat fee of $1000.
