My Approach as a Headshot Specialist

They make you feel awkward and uncomfortable. Maybe it’s been years and you’ve added some extra pounds and wrinkles. Basically, life happened and you’re judging yourself.

Many photographers make it YOUR responsibility to look good in front of a camera. (Remember the last time your company brought in a photographer?)

It’s MY responsibility to capture you at your best, and coach you to get there. And I take fabulous headshots of “not photogenic” (their words, not mine) people every day.

You don’t need to think you’re photogenic, you just need a skilled headshot specialist who know how to:

This is why a headshot session with me is unlike any experience you’ve ever had before. I guarantee it won’t suck.

What to Expect During Your Session

Guidance. We’ll go through your wardrobe together to find some awesome combinations, all while debating life’s mysteries.

Lighting Perfection. Every person is different, so you’ll chill out in front of my lights while I fine tune them for your face. If life is a game of inches, headshots are a game of millimeters.

Coaching. I’ll teach you a few simple techniques and act as your mirror throughout the session, guiding you into the best poses.

Laughing. I say lots of dumb stuff to you to get you having fun. Maybe I’m funny, maybe I’m not, but you can laugh at me if you want.

Instant Reviews. I’ll stop a few times to review images on the computer with you to make sure you like what you are seeing. My #1 priority is that we get results that you’re super happy with.

At the end of your headshot session we will sit down together and go through all of the images. I will help you narrow down the images. There will come a point where it will start to get more difficult to delete images – usually around 20 images.

From there it is up to you to select which and how many of your favorite images you wish to purchase. You are in complete control depending on how many images you want.

I never like my clients to feel rushed since everyone reacts differently to the camera. Therefore, session times are unlimited. We will shoot until you have the variety and range of expressions that you want. An average session runs 45-90 minutes including image selection at the end. So don’t stress if you show up a little late.

If you normally wear makeup, and are confident in your abilities, I suggest doing it yourself. If you want the extra special touch, I work with a fantastic makeup artist who will elevate your entire headshot experience.

Be sure to contact me if you want a makeup artist before booking your session to check availability.

Your images will be available for download via a private gallery 10 business days after your session. If you needed your headshot yesterday, 24-hour turnaround is available for an additional $50/image.
